A New Defender Is Coming
After it was discontinued in 2016, the Defender SUV was reintroduced in 2020 to great fanfare. And that is especially true for New Jersey drivers in Edison, NJ, and beyond. In 2025, a new, refreshed Defender is on its way. And it promises to redefine what it means to be a capable, luxurious SUV. So, what’s in store for the 2026 Defender?
Does Land Rover Still Make the Defender?
Land Rover still produces the Defender SUV, and will continue to do so. For the 2025 Defender, Land Rover introduced the Octa trim, which makes 626 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. Those numbers are thanks to a twin-turbo V8 engine, which is a reflection of the brand’s commitment to performance.

It’s not clear what’s coming for the 2026 Defender, but a facelift is expected. The more exciting news might be the Defender Sport. The Defender Sport will arrive for the 2027 model year and will essentially be a smaller Defender. And at Land Rover Edison, we are excited to offer this SUV once it arrives.
